First Friday Art Walk, November 6, 2009

A picture is worth a thousand words, or in the case of “Lost Dogs,” two and a half million lives. 21st Paradigm invites you to meet the many faces of Chile’s homeless dogs, through a photographic exhibit presented by High Desert Journal, and hosted in the TBD loft downtown. The exhibit features work by filmmaker, Vanessa Schulz, and photographer, Chris Mortimer, during two months of filming in Chile. Other 21st Paradigm films will also be displayed throughout the evening.

The photo exhibit serves as a benefit to help raise finishing funds for the documentary.

A VISITOR TO CHILE COMMENTS ON FACEBOOK
    September 18, 2009

My name is Lauren Rodgers and I am a senior at OSU. Last Fall I went to Chile for a 4 month Spanish emession program. When I arrived in Chillan, Chile the first thing I noticed was the number of street dogs all over the city. One morning I walked around Chillan and in 3 hours I counted 29 loose dogs. I asked my host mom and just about every other Chilean I met about the dogs and they all gave me just about the same answer: that the dogs are dirty, dangerous, and disgusting and I should never touch them; that they are a huge problem in Chile because they rip open trash bags and cause visual and sanitary problems...

    OSCAR SPEECH, WITHOUT THE OSCAR
    July 16, 2009
After a 14-hour flight, we arrived in Los Angeles, California – three dogs from Chaiten, three from Rinconada, and one add-on from LAN airlines. What it entailed to bring the dogs here few people will ever understand. Nevertheless, at the risk of sounding like an Oscar recipient, I would like to express my profound gratitude to the following people –

    THE CANDIDATES
    June 28, 2009
By tomorrow, Monday June 29, I will be on the road, headed for Santiago. There I have nine days to select the dogs to be rescued and brought to the US. Four lucky dogs. If LAN airlines approves another four, it could be eight IF certain offers of adoption or fostering come through. If that piece of the puzzle doesn’t fit, they will have to be left behind. Here are the candidates, in order of their likelihood to be rescued....
